Hummingbirds, 2021
Updated September 9, 2021 |
Every summer, we have Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds visit our yard on a regular basis. Trees along the creek, roses, and Pride of Barbados plants are all attractive to them along with the feeders we put out. In the fall, as they get ready to migrate across the Gulf to South America, their numbers and activity increase greatly as they store up energy. In these pictures, there are 12-14 hummers around the one feeder constantly. There are probably another dozen or so in the trees and on other feeders and plants. Those with a dark throat with red color are males, the soft grey throats are the females. They put on a wonderful show. Be sure to select full screen for the video, and turn up the sound to hear their chatter (Background hum is the AC!). |
