Oak Quilt Rack

This is the quilt rack featured on the cover of Woodsmith (August 2006). It features through mortises made with the table saw by cutting a board in half, cutting two matching notches, and gluing it back together. Having chopped some mortises by hand, this produced much cleaner mortises. The lumber was interesting in that it is 100+ year old oak from my wife's family farm barn. It was very dirty, warped, cupped, crooked and general hard to mill into usable stock. The sentimental value made it worthwhile, however.
